Sweep are a small, schooling fish inhabiting inshore reefs and coastal areas. Often overlooked by anglers because they’re small, and plain. But, they are actually quite nice table fare. Sweet white moist flesh with a delicate texture and Very affordable, fun to catch on light gear, what’s not to love!

Australian Sawtail, Prionurus microlepidotus
An interesting little fish found on the SE QLD and northern NSW on inshore reefs and along the coast.
The skin is more leathery than I gave it credit, but the flesh looks pretty decent. The little keep plates on the tail are actually sharp.
